Winnipeg blues?

Word from Winnipeg is the 45 newsroom staffers at the Winnipeg Sun will be offered buyout packages on Tuesday.

Apparently, the "voluntary termination incentive program" is designed to cut at least six of the 45 jobs from the already tight ship.

The Winnipeg Sun is one of the newest members of the Sun Media chain. We are confident Toronto Sun staffers have empathy for employees destined to be shown the door through buyouts or layoffs.

There will be more to come throughout Sun Media's urban dailies as Quebecor continues with its centralization of national news, sports and entertainment coverage.

The "national" pages will be laid out in London, Ontario, and sent to nine major dailies in the Sun Media chain.
