Worth repeating

A posted TSF comment re Welcome to Hell:

To 11:21 p.m.: I love how commenters like this one echo what has come to be the Sun's (and by Sun I mean SNN as well as the papers) new "either/or" ethos.

Some of us are proud of the work we do at the Sun, and quite comfortable with the changes in the industry, but still find that cover to be a complete humiliation.

The "pining for the old days" is primarily the wish for the higher staff levels of yesterday, which would better enable the paper to give us, as it always has in the past, something to talk about, but without the factual errors, spelling mistakes and atrocious grammar that's becoming more and more the norm.

It isn't the lazy commenter's choice of "either the Sun or the Star," but rather a better Sun.

  1. Sounds like the newsroom has a few Quebecor 'management lackeys' lingering around to 'shill' on behalf of PKP. As for "Some of us are proud of the work we do at the Sun, and quite comfortable with the changes in the industry, but still find that cover to be a complete humiliation." REALLY, you're proud. You obviously haven't looked at the paper lately.

  2. There's that simple-minded "either/or" again. "Management lackey?" If I work for Quebecor but like my job and say so I must therefore be a "management lackey?" I'm not management, although I do plead guilty to being a "shill" - on behalf of my colleagues, any day of the week. The people in my department work with the most astute, talented and capable writers, and we produce, with limited resources, content and pages that consistently put competing papers to shame. Am I proud of that? You bet. Sorry you can't seem to comprehend that.

  3. Ah c'mon. Read the post carefully. The alleged "lackey" said "Some of us are proud of the work we do at the Sun."
That's hardly an endorsement of all the garbage that goes on at 333.
Even under the most onerous of conditions, many people do their professional best. There is nothing wrong with being proud of that.
