This could be a first.
A Kings of Leon video clip used online by the Toronto Sun has been blocked by a copyright claim by Vector Entertainment.
Torontosun.com does check for copyright restrictions before using video clips from other sources, right?
A blog for former and current employees of the Toronto Sun and siblings to reflect on 49-plus years of life in a word factory, for better and for worse, for richer and for poorer.

ReplyDeleteOf course not. The Toronto Sun also does not check on copyright issues when it steals pictures/text from other web sites.
However in this particular case, the Sun has little to do with the copyright claim. The Sun is just linking to a Youtube video (which is legal to do) and
relying on the "ignorance is bliss" defence: if it's on the Web, it must be true and okay to use.
Also, why does the Sun web site use a meaningless file photo from the US, when the rock group has been in Toronto many times (as recently as 13 weeks ago)? Why not use a local picture? Too much trouble to look it up in the computer system?
The fun part: let's see how long the dead video and the now incorrect text sit on the page.
