The Cooler

In the world of high stakes gambling, Quebecor would be tagged a cooler.

And speaking of coolers, Toronto Sun sources say all of the water coolers at 333 will soon be removed, leaving staff to drink tap water or their own bottled water.

Quebecor's penny-pinching is now a theatre of the absurd.

  1. Word is PK wanted the coolers removed, and the fountains fixed, but was told the repairs would cost way too much. He's also been informed that health and safety rules demand water be supplied - and so he's just having some removed in less-occupied areas, like prepress. The health and safety committee will make sure he abides by the rules, I guarantee it!!!!

  2. The water cooler thing must be chain-wide as the Edmonton Sun is losing its coolers as well. I can think of no better words than yours to describe this move.

  3. PK is hilarious. Perhaps ill-advised purchases are costing the company more than water is ...

  5. It happened last week at Canwest as well.
Tap water quality is better regulated than cooler water, which is very expensive to have. Grow up, spoiled people and get off your butts and walk to the kitchen sink and pour your own glass into your own cup. Geezus!

  6. I'm ashamed to say I work for this company.

I'm sure as hell not drinking tap water at my office in what is an old, crumbling building.

What's next? Will I have to bring in my own toilet paper?

  8. There is a STAFF MEMBER stealing food on a regular basis at 333. These antics need stop immediately. It went from throwing other colleagues food in the freezer, eating other staff `s lunches, unplugging the fridge and stealing someone`s hunk of cheese and placing it on the photocopier! Will it come to an end! Unsolved mysteries

  9. FYI at a paper in Southern Alberta they are supplying their own toilet paper because they can't get petty cash for it. Also, at a nearby paper they're supplying their own pens now.

  10. The place where I work is about to lose its water coolers. This, despite the fact that someone raised the health and safety issue as we have no safe place to get water from.
