The St. Catharines Standard was hit hard yesterday, with 13 layoffs, says a TSF reader.
No names yet, but the layoffs include five in the newsroom - 20% of the editorial staff.
Among them, a reporter and three copy editors representing 50% of the copy desk.

Reportedly, editorial cuts were supposed to be 7 at the St. Catharines Standard, but one part-time copy editor had just given notice two weeks earlier, and a part-time reporter had left the newspaper within the previous year, saving two positions.
