Toronto Sun readers raised $30,517.93 - up $4,000 over 2007 - for the 2008 Variety Village Christmas Fund, spearheaded by Variety member and columnist Mike Strobel.

The fund, now in its 30th year, was the pet project of the late George Gross, founding sports editor. He helped raise $1 million since its launch in 1978 with the encouragement of the late Doug Creighton, founding publisher.
